EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG is extending its balancing group management with cpX.AI, Sopra Steria’s AI-powered forecasting service.
Accurate sales and demand forecasts are of critical importance for energy companies. Even slight deviations between forecasted and actual energy volumes can lead to additional balancing group and procurement costs. With this in mind, EnBW sought a solution that would not only improve its forecasts but also fully integrate them into its processes.
Actual data is automatically imported from cpX.Energy using cpX.AI, supplemented with current influencing factors such as weather data, and recalculated several times a day. The generated forecasts are then directly fed back into the balancing group processes. The solution also supports cold start scenarios for newly added metering points based on historical load profiles. As a result, forecasts for several hundred metering points can be generated within just a few minutes.
In addition to the high forecast accuracy, factors like the high degree of automation, the transparency of the models, and the seamless integration into the existing platform landscape were especially convincing. Furthermore, an integrated monitoring system supports the evaluation of data accuracy, forecast errors and model performance.
By using cpX.AI, forecast accuracy is improved, balancing deviations are reduced, and balancing group management becomes more cost-effective.
