Sopra Steria successfully completes the central integration project of cpX.Energy for RWE

| minute read

In recent months, Sopra Steria has successfully and productively implemented several of the central cpX.Energy modules at RWE Supply & Trading GmbH (RWEST), making an important contribution to the further digitalisation of core energy management processes. The completion of the MaBis project, which focused on electricity balancing and market communication within the Clearing process, marks another milestone in our collaboration with RWE. The valuable technical input from RWEST’s Grid Operations Team has been instrumental in accurately depicting the operational realities of managing a diverse, asset-based portfolio for the German electricity and gas markets under constantly changing regulatory requirements from the German Federal Network Agency.

Key processes, such as the GeLi market communication for gas supply including energy data management (EDM), GPKE processes for electricity generation and supply (also with integrated EDM) as well as BTR functions for data validation and market communication for operators of renewable energy systems were put into operation on the basis of the cpX.Energy Platform. The MaBis integration now enables the permanent inclusion of electricity balancing in this process landscape.

Together, these functional modules build a robust foundation in compliance with regulations and establish cpX.Energy as an important tool for implementing RWEST’s strategic ambitions in the German portfolio. The Platform not only supports operational processes, but also creates the basis for scaleable, future-oriented processes in the field of renewable and conventional energy production.

The close and trusting relationship between RWEST and Sopra Steria enables us to explore complex energy sector issues in depth and implement solutions successfully.

The completion of the MaBis project, however, does not mark the end of our journey together; cpX.Energy and RWEST are already working on closing any remaining gaps in functionality. The next seamless step will follow in autumn: the mapping of conventional power plants on the cpX.Energy Platform.

The completion of the project is not the end but the transition into the next phase of a partnership that has existed since 2017. cpX.Energy reaffirms its commitment to supporting energy companies such as RWEST in transforming their IT and process landscapes in a reliable, pragmatic manner and with rapid implementation.
