MARCO: GAS-X Grid now offers enhanced congestion management and management of marketing stops

| minute read

Together with numerous German grid operators, Sopra Steria mapped the new market area THE and embedded the market requirements in the GAS-X software for transmission system operators. The most important point in merging the two market areas GASPOOL and NetConnect Germany was to ensure transports while maintaining the injection contracts. For this purpose, in addition to 300 new interfaces, 2 new features were implemented:

The enhanced congestion management assists in the handling of interruption requests and in case of interruption and reduction potentials.

The marketing stop wizard assists in the implementation or withdrawal of marketing stops (according to the phase plan), including UMM (urgent market messages) and the update of auction products on the respective marketing platform.

Since 1 October 2021, GAS-X has been mapping the new operational balancing process for gas transports in the market area THE. Numerous data flows were newly established and processes successfully adapted. With the final merger of the two remaining market areas, the consolidation that began in 2006 comes to an end and one of the most promising gas trading hubs in Europe emerges. Germany will thus further expand its role as the central hub of European gas trading and ensure a fluent and convenient cross-border interconnection of country-specific markets.
